Project Manager
Keep client projects on time, on budget, and honestly communicated — from kickoff to handover.
About Afterrealism
Afterrealism is a small geospatial software consultancy in Canberra. We build maps, data platforms, and cloud systems for organisations across Australia to a standard set inside Geoscience Australia and CSIRO.
Small is the point: you work directly with the founder, your decisions ship, and you can see exactly where your work lands.
About the role
You'll run the delivery side of our client engagements: plans, timelines, budgets, and the steady communication that keeps everyone confident.
We run lean — no process theatre. Your job is to remove friction for the people building, and make sure clients always know exactly where things stand.
What you'll do
- Plan and track client projects from kickoff to handover
- Own client communication: status updates, meetings, expectations
- Manage scope, timelines, and budgets — and raise risks early, not after
- Coordinate the specialist team across concurrent projects
- Keep improving how we deliver
What we're looking for
- Experience managing software or technical delivery projects
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Comfortable with lightweight agile delivery — without cargo-culting ceremony
- Calm and decisive when priorities shift
Nice to have
- Experience with government clients or procurement
- A GIS or data project background
- Formal PM certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or agile equivalents)
