Graphic Designer
Shape our products and brand end to end — map user stories in Figma, build our visual identity, and ship polished interfaces.
About Afterrealism
Afterrealism is a small geospatial software consultancy in Canberra. We build maps, data platforms, and cloud systems for organisations across Australia to a standard set inside Geoscience Australia and CSIRO.
Small is the point: you work directly with the founder, your decisions ship, and you can see exactly where your work lands.
About the role
Maps are visual products — and most geospatial software looks like it was designed by the database. You'll make sure ours doesn't.
You'll own the visual side of the practice: mapping user journeys and user stories in Figma, creating and evolving our brand identity, and designing the product UI, marketing assets, and details that make clients trust what they're looking at.
What you'll do
- Map user stories and user journeys in Figma — from discovery workshops to wireframes and prototypes
- Create and evolve our brand identity: logo, typography, colour, and guidelines
- Design UI/UX for map products and dashboards
- Produce brand and marketing assets, proposals, presentations, and case studies
- Maintain and evolve our design system
- Work directly with developers to ship polished interfaces
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of product or graphic design experience
- A portfolio that shows strong typography, layout, and colour
- Fluency in Figma — including user story mapping, wireframing, and prototyping
- Demonstrated brand identity work (logo, guidelines, collateral)
- Ability to work within (and improve) an existing design system
Nice to have
- Data visualisation or cartographic design experience
- Facilitating user story mapping sessions with stakeholders
- Motion design
- Front-end sensibility (HTML/CSS)
